The Velmora atelier and store in Paris

Velmora is an independent perfume house that began in a one-room Paris studio with a single resin and a stubborn idea: a fragrance should take exactly as long as its ingredients need.

Every composition is built by two perfumers, blended in small batches, rested for ninety days and numbered by hand. We keep the house small on purpose, so nothing leaves the atelier before it is finished.

About

01

Weeks 1 – 3

It begins with a memory, not a formula

Every Velmora fragrance starts without a single ingredient on the bench. Élise spends the first weeks collecting an atmosphere: a stone cellar after rain, a wool coat left in a cedar wardrobe, the cold air of an orchard at dawn. She writes it down as sensations, not notes, until she can describe the whole scene in smell alone.

Only then does she open the materials cabinet, and only to ask a narrow question: which raw materials come closest to what she remembers?

02

Weeks 4 – 12

Building the skeleton with five materials or fewer

The first accord is deliberately small. With three to five materials she builds the structure of the scent, how it opens, where it turns and how it settles, and she tests every proportion in drops, never as percentages on a screen.

Hundreds of tiny variations follow. Most are discarded within a day. The drafts that survive are the ones she keeps reaching for without meaning to.

03

Months 3 – 6

Letting the blend rest until it decides

A composition that smells finished on the first day is rarely finished. The blend is sealed in glass and left in the dark for ninety days, while alcohol and oils slowly marry and the sharp edges soften.

Élise returns to it on the first, thirtieth and sixtieth day and adjusts by a single drop at a time. Some formulas change character completely. Others simply deepen.

04

Final month

Editing until nothing is left to remove

The last stage is subtraction. Each material has to justify its place, and if the scent holds together without it, it goes. What remains is tested on skin through different weather and across eight hours, from the first spray to the last trace on a collar.

She signs off only when the dry-down matches the memory she began with. Then the formula is locked and the first numbered batch is filled by hand.
